Code of Conduct (Parents, Guardians and Visitors):
At Tender Loving Care we are proud and fortunate to have a very dedicated and supportive community. Our staff, parents and guardians all recognize that the education of our children is a partnership between us.
We are committed to resolving difficulties in a constructive manner, through open and positive dialogue. However, we understand that everyday misunderstandings can sometimes cause frustrations. If you have a concern, an issue arises or a misunderstanding has taken place, please contact us right away. Please do not discuss your concerns with our staff members while children are present.
This Code of Conduct aims to clarify the types of behavior that will not be tolerated from adults. The Code of Conduct also sets out the actions Tender Loving Care can take should this code be disregarded or not adhered to.
Behavior that will not be tolerated from adults:
1. Disruptive behavior which interferes or threatens to interfere with any of the program’s normal operations or activities.
2. Any inappropriate behavior.
3. Using loud or offensive language or displaying temper.
4. Discussing grievances and/or concerns in the same vicinity as our students.
5. Threatening a member of our staff, visitor, fellow parent/guardian, child or student in any way.
6. Sending abusive or threatening emails or text, voicemail, phone messages and/or other written communications (including social media) to anyone within the school community.
7. Defamatory, offensive or derogatory comments regarding the school and/or any of the pupils, parents, staff or guardians on Facebook or other social media sites.
8. The use of physical, verbal or written aggression towards another adult or child. Please Note – this includes physical and/or verbal punishment of your own child(ren).
9. Speaking to someone else’s child in order to discuss, chastise or “investigate” a situation (approaching one of our students in this manner may be seen as an assault to that child and could have legal consequences).
10. Smoking, taking drugs or consuming alcohol while class is in session or while children are in your immediate care (including legal marijuana).
11. Using any form of public media as a medium to air any concerns or grievances.
12. Taking and or posting images/videos of our students or staff.
13. Abusive or personal comments about staff, parents, guardians, children or visitors.
14. Using any form of media to publicly challenge school policies or discuss issues about individual children or members of our staff.
At our school we take our safeguarding responsibilities seriously and will deal with any reported incidents appropriately. Should any of the above occur we reserve the right to take legal action, to contact the appropriate authorities and/or to ban the offending person(s) from our program in its entirety.
We thank you in advance for abiding by this code. Together we have the power to create a positive and uplifting environment, not only for our young students but also for all of our staff members and parents alike.
We ask and require the person(s) who is (or are) legally accountable for the student enrolled in our program to take responsibility in making sure any persons visiting our program are fully aware of this policy.
